TRACEY UPDATE - END OF DAY on THURSDAY - Day 9
Well, as Drew hinted at in
yesterday's update, I was discharged from the hospital last night around 7 or
so. They brought the echocardiogram up to the room last night, and did that
before the nurse came in with all of the discharge papers to sign. The
echocardiogram was very uncomfortable to have done, and not just because it was
a male running the machine. The discharge instructions were read, leaving off
one of the meds that I was taking before entering the hospital that they
continued me on while in the hospital, and another one that they had me taking
while in the hospital, but apparently didn't want me to continue once I left the
hospital. I don't understand that, but there's a lot of things that the dr's do
that I don't understand. Like when Drew picked my meds up today, one of them
said to avoid drinking cranberry juice and eating cranberries, yet they would
give me cranberry juice whenever I wanted it while in the hospital.
Anyway, we realized that after they let me out, they never returned my
meds to me that they were keeping locked in the drawer and giving to me as
needed. Drew's mom was awesome. Not only had she cleaned up part of the
house (which was really nice to come home to), she ran to steven's to get drew's
stuff and the walker, and then stopped at the hospital to get my meds back from
the nurses. Then she came back with us to the house, finished cleaning some
stuff, helped Drew make breakfast this morning, took care of me while Drew ran
to pharmacie, the office, back to the pharmacy and then to the grocery store to
get me some fruits and veggies.... and then made a really good fish & noddle
dinner.
I was walking around a little bit today, with both a walker and
or crutches, mostly just getting up to use the bathroom, or go to the table for
food. I spent most of the day on the couch with my leg up either sleeping,
reading, watching tv, or eating since I don't have too much energy to do much of
anything, and I can't really do too much with limited mobility. My leg is sore
when I move around, but after elevating it on the couch or bed, it feels better
after about 15-20 mins. I'm continuing to do the exercies that the PT gave me.
She wanted me to be doing toe raises to stretch the calf muscles since I hadn't
used them in a week, and I couldn't, actually still can't completely level out
my foot/ankle to walk flat on my foot. That's a little frustrating, since I
don't like being immoble, and not being able to do everything for myself like I
was doing a week and a half ago, but Drew's taking really good care of me.
(Actually, since Drew is taking such good care of me, maybe I can guilt him into
finishing the spackling & skimcoating over the bad walls so we can finish
painting the house. But shuussh... don't tell him I said that.) My shoulders
and sides/arms are starting to get sore from the crutches, but I think that's
because they are a little too tall since I didn't have a problem when I spent 20
weeks on them back when I was 16 bceause of a broken leg.
I go tomorrow
morning for labwork to find out if they are going to change my dose of warfarin / coumadin
or leave it where it is, and I'll go again next Tuesday. I now have to get
blood drawn once or twice a week for at least 6 months until they get my levels
where they want them to be constistantly. Today we did a calendar of all my INR
& PTT numbers, as well as what meds I was given while in the hospital. Now
we just have to keep it up to date as we go.
I'm up for a few visitors
a day but I would suggest calling Drew first if you are planning on stopping
by. As of right now, I'm seriously thinking about going to GZ tomorrow night to
see DucTape Comedy, to get out of the house, and see some familiar faces, etc.
Thanks for all your prayers, visits, emails, attachments, videos,
e-cards, nursing advice, et. al. They've been really encouraging and have made
this whole experience much more bearable. I know God is with me and that he's
bringing my healing. We're continueing to rely on him. I love you all very
very much!!
